Grouplove has released a video of the band performing a stripped down, acoustic version of its current Modern Rock Top Five single, “Ways To Go.” The clip gives fans an idea of what to expect on the ensemble’s current Seesaw Tour, which finds them doing two-night stands in 11 major U.S. cities at which one night is unplugged and the other is a standard electric rock show.
Drummer Ryan Rabin told Rolling Stone, “All of our songs, in some way or another, stem from an acoustic guitar. Even a song like ‘Ways To Go,’ which has primarily an electronic vibe, still stemmed from a riff on an acoustic guitar.”
Singer/guitarist Christian Zucconi added, “That’s been the most rewarding aspect of these intimate acoustic shows we’re doing . . . letting the fans as well as ourselves experience the songwriting in its most basic and organic form.”
The band performs the second of its two nights in the Boston area on Monday (September 23rd) before heading to New York City next,
“Ways To Go” is taken from Grouplove’s second album, Spreading Rumors, which came out last Tuesday (September 17th).
The new disc follows up the band’s 2011 debut, Never Trust A Happy Song, which featured Modern Rock chart-topper “Tongue-Tied.”
Grouplove recently revealed plans to headline the 2013 Campus Consciousness Tour, which kicks off at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio on October 24th.
