Kings Of Leon issue their sixth studio album, calledMechanical Bull, on Tuesday (September 24th). The album, recorded at the band’s new studio in Nashville, follows up 2010’s Come Around Sundown. It’s also the first new project from the Kings since a turbulent period two years ago in which frontmanCaleb Followill left the stage during a Dallas concert and never came back, leading the quartet to cancel the rest of a North American tour. The Kings seem to have rallied since then, with Caleb denying in interviews that he went to rehab and the band as a whole saying that having time off and starting families have calmed down their former hard-partying ways.
Reports during that time indicated that there was tension between Caleb and his brothers, drummer Nathan Followill and bassist Jared Followill.
We asked Nathan a while back whether success had ever changed the relationships in the band:”We were all super close before the band started, and I’m sure we’ll be super close once the band is gone. But, you know, our whole lives, we have been forced to be, you know, each other’s best friends.”
Kings Of Leon will headline the Molson Canadian National Hockey League Face-Off in Montreal on October 1st to kick off the 2013 NHL season. The four-piece will play a 40-minute set as part of festivities leading up to the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Part of the band’s set will be featured on the CBC pre-game TV broadcast, Hockey Tonight. The show will air on CBC at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Kings Of Leon have yet to announce a full tour schedule in support of Mechanical Bull.
