We still may not have any new music from Tool for a while, but at least some schoolkids are trying to ease our suffering. Antiquiet has posted a video of a group of music students rocking the band’s classic track “46 & 2″ under the supervision of teacher Aaron O’Keefe, who is definitely the coolest music teacher we’ve heard of since watching Jack Black in School Of Rock.
Tool has not released an album since 2006’s 10,000 Days, but the band has reportedly been working on new music on and off for the past year.
Drummer Danny Carey told Loudwire in July that singer Maynard James Keenanhad not yet started working with the rest of the group at that point, saying, “It’s still the three of us right now and four of us it will be soon.”
But Keenan himself hinted at new Tool material earlier this month, writing on Instagram, “For my 666th IG photo, I’d just like to say… Music is happening on ALL fronts. Always. . . . #tool2014 @aperfectcircle @tool @puscifer.”
Keenan’s other band, A Perfect Circle, will release a boxed set called A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone and Echo on November 26th.
The package will include Stone And Echo, a full-length concert DVD/CD filmed on August 11th, 2011 at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, as well as Trifecta, a multi-disc collection containing the band’s complete discography — Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step and eMOTIVe — recorded live during a five-city run of three-night, full-album performances in 2010.
Also included will be “By And Down,” the only new A Perfect Circle song recorded since 2003.
