Three Days Grace has scored its 11th Number One single at Active Rock radio with “Misery Loves My Company,” the latest track released from the band’s fourth album, Transit Of Venus. The song follows “The High Road,” which also hit the top spot on the chart earlier this year. Three Days Grace has now broken its own record of 10 chart-toppers, which it set last spring, and continues to hold the title ahead of Linkin Park and Shinedown, who each have nine Number Ones.
Drummer Neil Sanderson told us a while back that the group has a simple method of writing its songs:“You know, we basically still write at an acoustic level, so we kind of just sit with acoustic guitars and a couple of vocals and a hand drum and a piece of paper, you know, and we write that way. We still have the philosophy that a great song will translate on just a guitar and vocals, you know, and then sort of whatever flavor or whatever color you decide to paint it afterwards, it still supports the root of the song.”
The other bands following Three Days Grace, Linkin Park and Shinedown with the most Active Rock number ones are Disturbed with seven, Seether with six, and Godsmack with five.
Three Days Grace recently came off the road after nearly a year of touring and has just one date on its schedule for the rest of 2013, on December 11th in Montreal.
