Arcade Fire landed the second Number One album of its career on Wednesday (November 6th), as the Canadian act’s fourth studio effort,Reflektor, sold 140,000 copies in its first week of release to debut atop the Billboard200 album chart. The group’s last record, 2010’s The Suburbs, also entered in the top spot with somewhat higher sales of 156,000 copies.
Reflektor is the first album from Arcade Fire to receive major distribution as well as a radio promotion push from a major record label.
Arcade Fire don’t have any plans to tour behind the album until next spring, but the band was announced earlier this week as part of the lineup for an expandedLollapalooza excursion to South America.
Also debuting in the Top 10 this week at Number 10 was Linkin Park‘s Recharged, which collected remixes of songs from the band’s 2012 release, Living Things. Recharged sold nearly 33,000 copies to become the eighth Linkin Park set to debut in the Top 10.
