Phoenix was forced to cancel several European tour dates because of singer Thomas Mars having problems with his voice, according to NME.com. The group had to scrap three gigs in France after doctors advised Mars not to sing. At press time the band had resumed its tour on Saturday night (November 16th), with the group posting on Twitter that Mars’ voice had improved.
The canceled shows are set to be rescheduled.
Phoenix recently issued a new music video for the song “Chloroform,” directed by filmmaker Sofia Coppola. The track is taken from the French act’s fifth and latest album, Bankrupt!.
Coppola is married to Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars. The couple have two children together.
Phoenix contributed music to Coppola’s latest film, The Bling Ring, and also composed the score for her previous movie, Somewhere.
Bankrupt! cracked the Billboard album chart’s Top 10 in May, debuting at Number Four with 50,000 copies sold in its first week — both a sales and chart peak for the French quartet.
Phoenix will return to the U.S. in early December for a string of holiday radio festivals.
