To the “O’s” with today for some Sinead O’Connor. I first met Sinead shortly after the release of her 1987 debut record, The Lion and the Cobra. She was so small and delicate but the bald head, the army jacket and the Doc Martens offset that.
Everyone was so impressed with that first album, especially since she ha∂ produced much of the record herself—something that almost never happens with someone that young (she was 20—AND pregnant with her first child) and especially for a debut album. This was the second single from the record. It’s Sinead O’Connor and “Mandinka.”
