Today I have a piece of vinyl from section “P” of the archive that was once very treasured and rare from Pop Will Eat Itself. Their 1989 album, This is the Day…This is the Hour…This is This!, featured a song called “Wise Up! Sucker,” which didn’t make it beyond #41 on the British singles charts. But a 12-inch remix created by Youth, the now-famous producer, became a hit in certain alternative dance clubs.
But it was hard to find and anyone who managed to snag a copy of the vinyl was very, very lucky. But then the album was released on CD and the remix was stuck at the very end, which destroyed the market in “Wise Up! Sucker” 12-inches. Oh, well. It was cool while it lasted.
