Before he was in Velvet Revolver, bass player Duff McKagan was in Guns’N’Roses, was of the most decadent rock bands in history. Duff partied so hard–two litres of vodka a day was the norm–that he suffered what most people describe as an “exploding pancreas” in 1994. That’s gotta hurt. After two solo albums, Duff decided that enough was enough, so he moved to Seattle where he went back to school. He ended up with a degree in finance.
Why finance? Because Guns ‘N Roses was such a financial wreck that he became intrigued about how the world of money worked. He became so good at the financial stuff that he was offered a job by Microsoft. But that’s about when Velvet Revolver started to come along, so he told Mr. Gates “Thanks, but no thanks.”
