This week starts in section L of the vinyl archive, which is where I have my one and only Last Shadow Puppets album. This is the group Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys dabbled in along with Miles Kane of a band called the Rascals and James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco.
This all came together after The Rascals toured with the Monkeys. Apparently after lots of post-gig drinks, the idea of forming a sideline project seemed like a good idea. And since what Alex Turner wants Alex Turner gets, the Monkeys’ label, Domino, was all for it. That one record is called The Age of the Understatement—which, if you’re interested, can be had on vinyl for less than $20. The title track was the first single.
