Section N today in our perpetual turn through my personal vinyl collection. If you saw the first episode of Dave Grohl’s Sonic Highways, you’ll remember the story he told about visiting his cousin Tracy in Chicago, who took him to his first-ever live concert.
Performing that night at place called the Cubby Bear was a local punk rock band called Naked Raygun. Seeing this band changed Dave Grohl’s life. Instead of wanting to be like Jimmy Page or Keith Richards, he now wanted to be like the punks in Naked Raygun. So what do they sound like? This is from a 1988 album called Jettsion. It’s “Soldier’s Requiem.”
