British trio Muse seemed to have confirmed that their seventh studio album will be titled Drones. According to Diffuser, the band posted several images on their Instagram account which look like magazine covers with the text and the band’s eyes blacked out. Both are accompanied by the hashtag “MuseDrones.”
The possibility of Drones being the title of the record first came up last week, when a short audio clip posted on Instagram by the group featured a studio video screen on which the word could be seen under the heading of “Album.”
Muse has posted several short video clips online since entering the studio last October to record the follow-up to 2012’s The 2nd Law.
Among the previous posts was one that showed frontman Matt Bellamy playing some bluesy guitar in the studio. Another revealed the band working with an orchestra.
Muse entered the studio with legendary AC/DC and Def Leppard producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange last fall. The new disc is due out sometime in 2015.
Bellamy has stated that the album’s themes would include “deep ecology, the empathy gap and World War 3.”
