Into the V’s we go with Vampire Weekend. They released their Contra album in January 2010 and it immediately showed up at Number One on the Billboard chart. You also might remember that they ran into some issues with the artwork when the anonymous woman featured on the cover became not-so-anonymous and decided to sue.
Long story, but they eventually settled it. There are at least a dozen different vinyl versions of this album because that’s how XL Recordings—Vampire Weekend’s label—liked to role. I own the standard North American version, but I’d sure like to acquire the Russian, Thai or Brazilian versions. Oh, and if you’re wondering what “horchata” is, it’s a refreshing non-alcoholic drink found in Spain.
