Somewhere in my record collection I have a box set and a book called Oh, What a Feeling, one of the few (at the time, anyway) histories of Canadian pop and rock. That old project is now being turned into a musical stage production. Call it CanCon: The Musical.
After meeting with former EMI Canada president Deane Cameron last year, concert promoter Jeff Parry came up with the idea of creating a Canadian tribute concert. One thing let to another and come this August, Oh Canada, What a Feeling! will have its premiere at the Princes of Wales Theatre in Toronto. Then it’ll hit the road.
The script/libretto is based on that original book by Martin Melhuish. Casting has being for people to play the various characters. A kd lang has been secured, but they still need a Niel Young, a Randy Bachman, a Bryan Adams, a Corey Hart plus members of Loverboy, Blue Rodeo and more. Oh, yes: they need an Anne Murray, too.
