What better way to complete a Canadian tour than at a sold out Toronto venue? Our Next Big Thing winners, JJ and the Pillars, did exactly that at The Drake Hotel on Saturday night.
Their openers, The Commoners, looked young but blew us away with their mature rock sound. The Toronto locals had the audience crowding around the stage as they played a short but memorable set. Monster Truck and Big Wreck fans check these locals out you won’t be disappointed!
JJ and the Pillars came on just after nine and kicked off their set with “The Pit” and proceeded to sweep us away with ten more tight tunes (including their latest single “Come With Me” and of course, “The Wolves”). They were super humble they probably thanked half a dozen people when they were up on stage. (Including us so thanks boys!) They seemed at ease during their performance and despite the size of the venue they put on a big show. The audience was thoroughly engaged in their sound and it was easy to get lost in the warm atmosphere.
These Peterborough natives pulled off a tremendous show in just over an hour. We have no doubt there will be greater things to come from them. Torontonians, be sure to check out JJ and the Pillars the next time they play a show in the city, they’re well worth it.
