When the Smashing Pumpkins died for the first time, Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin regrouped with friends from three indie bands: Slint, Tortoise and Chavez to create a band called Zwan. They recorded one album, Mary Star of the Sea that was released in January 2003. There was a world tour—and then they broke up. And it wasn’t pleasant. What was the problem? “Sex and drugs and junk,” says Billy, including lots of heroin and “sex between band members.” There’s apparently a ton of unreleased Zwan material somewhere, but Billy says he can’t stomach it. This was one of the singles from the album.
