Here’s an example of a song that I discovered by listening to a streaming music service. RL Burnside was a Mississippi blues musician born in 1926. In 1992 (when he was 66 years old), he started recording for a label called Fat Possum, which led to a 1996 album entitled A Ass Picket of Whiskey which he recorded with Jon Spencer of Jon Spencer Blues explosion. Iggy Pop loved this record. So did Bono. In 1998, the label released an album full or remixed material entitled Come On In, which contained this song. Longtime Burnside fans found these tracks to be rather offensive because of their inauthenticity, but damn this is a good drivin’ song.
