There have been a handful of times when I immediately put a new song on repeat and listen to it over and over again. I clearly remember doing that with “Flagpole Sitta” in the summer of 1997 when their album, Where Have all The Merrymakers album was released. (I especially loved the line about “stupid people breeding.” I must’ve been going through one of my bitter stages.)
It became a massive alt-rock hit and ended up in a bunch of movies and TV shows. But for whatever reason, Harvey Danger wasn’t able to replicate that success and broke up in 2001. There was a reunion and 2004, but that ended in 2009. By the way, the Merrymakers album was re-released on vinyl in the summer of 2014. Highly recommended.
