In the early days of punk, it was fashionable to have a name that was as shocking as possible. Think “Sex Pistols” and “Dead Kennedys.” Then we have The Queers, a band from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, one of the most conservative places on earth. They were led by Joe Queer and backed up by Tulu and Wimpy Rutherford (they now feature Joe backed by Dangerous Dave and Lurch Nobody.
Last time I checked, anyway). You may have heard about Joe Queer in the last couple year or so after he came up in support of Darren Wilson, the Ferguson police officer who shot Michael Brown. This track is from the band’s 1998 album, Punk Rock Confidential.
