Pearl Jam fans in New York City have launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring the band to Forest Hill Stadium in Queens, according to the Village Voice. Three fans — Daniel Sheffer, his sister Angelica, and Albert Lee– were inspired by a similar effort that brought Foo Fighters to Richmond, Virginia and decided last November to take the same route.
The effort has raised $139,000 so far. Sheffer said that Pearl Jam is aware of the campaign and supports it, but is currently off the road and might not be able to make the show happen this year.
Sheffer said, “I think Pearl Jam is taking a break and there’s not a lot of activity. So I really don’t think the management can say anything, and it’s really up to the guys in the band. I think we’ve got an amazing head start, and if there’s a category for this, we’re probably number one in funds raised by fans for a concert.”
Sheffer added that he could see the concert happening in 2016, when the band is expected to hit the road to commemorate its 25th anniversary.
