Icelandic band Of Monsters And Men kicked off their world tour performing a sold out show at Massey Hall as a part of Canadian Music Week on May 4th. Anticipation for their upcoming album Beneath The Skin has skyrocketed from excited to unbearable.
During the performance, instruments such as a trumpet, trombone, accordion, keyboard, drums, and a plethora of guitars were used to give a full sound. Not only was the sound full but the stage was also as nine musicians played their hearts out.
Lead singer Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdotti looked as though she was where she was suppose to be. As if the stage was her home and she was going to rock the house. She did just that along with the rest of the band performing older singles such as “Little Talks” and “Dirty Paws”. New singles such as “I of the Storm” and “Crystals” as well as many other new tunes had the audience up for a standing ovation to rejoice the music that had been shared.
The 16 song set list was made up of an equal balance between new music and older songs from their 2012 debut album, my Head Is An Animal. The indie pop-folk band had the attention of everyone in the room as pictures and videos were not allowed to protect their brilliant new material. It was absolutely perfect as pictures could not express the breathtaking performance.
A fantastic way to kick off their new album during one of the biggest new music festivals in Canada. Of Monsters And Mens’s Beneath The Skin will release June 9th.
