In the mid-2000s, there was a flood of interesting guitar-based bands out of the UK: Elbow, Kasbian, Kaiser Chiefs, Editors—and Hard-Fi. I loved their debut album, Stars of CCTV—and so did a lot of other people. They toured with Green Day, Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday, pushing sales of this album to more than 600,000 copies in the UK and well over a million worldwide. However, the follow-up called Once Upon a Time in the West, had a mixed response (even though it sold strangely well throughout Latin and South America). There was one more album—Killer Sounds in 2011—before Hard-Fi broke up in 2014.
