One of my earliest duties as a member of the staff of CFNY/The Edge was in the fall of 1986 when I was assigned to an Images in Vogue autograph session at Square One. I’d heard about the band while working out west and had an image of them as Canada’s version of Depeche Mode—who, at the time, were still pretty much of a cult band in this part of the world. I remember being impressed by the crowd this band managed to pull in to a shopping mall on a weekday evening—especially the number of screaming girls. What local indie band might be able to do something similar today? IIV had a really good run in the 80s and still reform for the odd gig today.
