Bands that join the Vans Warped Tour do it for the love of the music, for the fans and for the exposure. No one goes into the tour thinking that they’re gonna make a lot of money. But you don’t want to lose money–especially through your own neglect. Take the case of the band Eleventeen, a band from San Francisco. After playing a Warped Tour stop just outside of Buffalo about ten years ago, the band prepared to drive off to the next gig.
Unfortunately, they had left their cash box on the roof of their car. This box contained all their operating cash for the rest of the tour and any profits they had made from selling t-shirts. Seven grand, left on the roof. Fortunately, a guy named Frank found the money on the side of the road and instead of walking away with it, he turned it into the police, who gave it back to the band. He even turned down a reward. The guys in Eleventeen were saved. Isn’t that nice?
