Uber has been in the news quite a bit lately with the whole cabbie protest against them. Up until yesterday, they seemed to have the undivided support of the city in this issue but that may have changed. Yesterday morning the entire subway system across Toronto was down due to communication issues thus causing others to have to make alternate arrangements which included calling a Uber. This was only to find that Uber had jacked up their rates as much as five times the regular fare claiming supply and demand. People are pretty pissed about this and one may think it may not have been the smartest move seeing as the city is at a crucial point deciding how it feels about Uber.
