Florence + The Machine scored the first Number One album of the band’s career on Wednesday (June 10th), as their third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, sold 137,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart. The Florence Welch-led act’s previous effort, 2011’s Ceremonials, made it to Number Six, while their 2009 debut, Lungs, only climbed to Number 14.
Ceremonials sold 105,000 copies in its first week.
Of the 137,000 copies of the new album sold, 128,000 were physical and the rest digital.
The first single from the new disc, “What Kind Of Man,” reached the Top 15 at Modern Rock radio. The latest track to hit the airwaves is “Ship To Wreck.”
Florence + The Machine announced fall North American tour dates this week, starting in Austin, Texas on October 11th and continuing through October 27th in Seattle.
