Some 26 years after giving the world smash hit “Love Shack”, B52s founding member and frontwoman Kate Pierson has gone solo with debut record Guitars and Microphones, released this past February. Produced by Tim Anderson (Ima Robot) and executive produced by Sia, the 10-track album also features The Strokes’ guitarist Nick Valensi on a number of tunes.
And she’s just followed up on the album release this week with a 6-date summer tour announcement and video premiere.
The video for “Matrix” can only be described as a sound and visual both befitting of the new wave icon she was and continues to be. Released via Yahoo! Music on June 15, the animated video is a product of Japanese artist Robert Nobita’s imagination and a partnership generated on Facebook.
Kate Pierson’s live dates are as follows:
6/20: Croton-on-Hudson, NY @ Croton Point Park – Clearwater Festival
7/17: Atlanta, GA @ Variety Playhouse
7/18: Athens, GA @ Georgia Theatre
7/19: Nashville, TN @ City Winery
7/21: Chicago, IL @ City Winery
