It’s been just over 24 hours and the HOV lanes are already putting the GTA in a foul mood. Commute times have skyrocketed, tempers have flared and tickets have been written. Pan-Armageddon has officially begun. But like anything else there needs to be a way to beat the system. No one wants to take a ridiculous detour and how many people really are realistically able to carpool to work? A new trip planner has become available to help manoeuvre through Toronto but more of the planning should have been put towards something smarter than HOV lanes. It’s decisions like this that have made a lot of the city pissed about an event that is still a month away. No one cares about the money or attention it will bring to the city because they are too enrage by the unnecessary congestion created by the HOV lanes. Unless you have some clever way to use the HOV lanes it’s probably best to avoid downtown all together.
