The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded goal-scoring winger Phil Kessel. Kessel was shipped to Pittsburgh along with defensemen Tim Erixon and forward Tyler Biggs. Coming to Toronto in the deal are forwards Kasperi Kapanen, Nick Spaling and 22-year-old defencemen Scott Harrington along with a third round pick in 2016. The move frees up significant cap space for the Leafs as well as adding some bright young players. Kessel has been the root of trade talks for months and the move is a clear cut sign Brendan Shanahan is committed to shaking up this teams core and building for the future.
