Conrad, as he came to be known is the raccoon behind the #DeadRaccoonTO trend on social media. The Raccoon was found laying on its back dead on Yonge St near Davenport. As would be expected, someone called animal services. However, no one came to pick the poor guy up. This sparked a trend as people passing by slowly began to construct a vigil to the deceased critter. Flowers and even a framed picture all started to gather around Conrad as he sat baking in the sun for 14 hours before someone came to clean him up.
The public vigil was used to make a statement to animal services who took the entire day to respond to the call that came in around 9:00 am. That poor raccoon must have smelled pretty ripe once it was picked up around 11:00 pm that night.
