There are a number of bands that have traded under the name Earth. Bruce Springsteen used it in New Jersey back in the 60s. It was the original name of Black Sabbath. There’s a British Earth and a Japanese Earth. But this Earth—or at least this song—features some guy named Kurt Cobain. Earth was the band of Kurt’s best friend, Dylan Carlson. They were heavy, droney and deep into distortion with repetitive pieces that could go on for half an hour. Before Nirvana hit it big with Nevermind, Kurt contributed vocals to this 1990 demo which later turned up on a 1995 EP entitled Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars.
