Though they formed in 2009, Young Empires have released successful singles and an EP. But now they’re excited to release Gates, their first full-length album on September 4th. “Uncover Your Eyes” is the first sneak peek into the album – the dramatic closing song.
This is what the band had to say about the new track: “‘Uncover You Eyes’ was the last song written on our debut album The Gates. The song is about personal demons and looking within one’s self to overcome internal struggles and challenges. The idea of shutting and opening ‘eyes’ is symbolic of this. ‘Eyes’ are the gateway to the soul, so they say.”
” I know there’s pain I caused and mistakes I made,” vocalist Matthew Vlahovich admits in the lyrics, “But I can’t change the past or my troubled ways.” In the chorus, he admits to being his own worst enemy as the drums march skyward and the dramatic backing vocals kick in. Live and learn!”
They’ll be all over Ontario in late summer, so be sure to check them out!
