The CNE may not have death-defying rides like Canada’s Wonderland, but there’s is no shortage of fun here. Between the thrill seekers or those who want to kick back and relax on the sky ride, there’s fun for everyone. Here’s our top ten list of rides that are a must-ride when visiting the CNE!
10. Alpine Bobs
Get ready for that stomach drop feeling! The ride consists of a number of cars attached to axles that swing in and out. This ride is not recommended for those with weak stomachs; or those who ate just before they plan on going on this ride.
A thrilling take on the classic Ferris Wheel. The Zipper rotates like a Ferris wheel, with free-flipping cars suspended on off-center axes that move around the sides. Be ready to be tossed and turned inside out.
8. Niagara Falls Flume
August has been nothing but a scorcher, this ride is perfect to cool off with. Its simple drop, spraying you with water, is the perfect way to cool down on a hot day at the Ex, besides the ice cream of course.
7. Mega Drop
A miniature version of the “Drop Zone” at Canada’s Wonderland, get ready to be brought up 130ft. in the air while listening to the latest music hits, but be ready because you could be dropped down to the ground at any second, so don’t get too into the song.
6. Pharaoh’s Fury
Most call it “the swinging boat”, I’d like to call it the metronome – due to its constant, swinging rhythm. Either way, its heart-dropping sensation is one that thrill seekers will love!
5. Swing Tower
Don’t be fooled by its simplistic look, this ride is a thriller. It may seem easy when you walk over and see the swing chairs, but be ready to be throw up high the same heights as the Mega Drop and swinging out parallel to the ground; a perfect combination of heights and speed. Here’s a tip too: although the line is usually long, it moves insanely quick!
4. Mach 3
Get ready to be whirled 360 degrees and shot up 37 meters in the air. Not only does this ride produce a 3.5 G-Force while on it, there’s a spectacular light show; so between the screaming, try and open those eyes and check the light show out! Get ready to be left at the top of the ride as well until the folks on the other end are let out.
3. The Blitzer / Crazy Mouse Roller Coaster
The two roller coasters of the park, which are both comparable to “The Fly” over at Canada’s Wonderland. Jump on the Blitzer for bending twists and steep drops or if you’re on the Crazy Mouse, get ready for steep turns with the cart rotating as well! Definitely worth the wait to hop on these two rides.
2. Euro Slide
Another classic amusement park attraction; race with friends down the sky high slide but beware of the climb up to the top, you’ll definitely feel the burn. You’ll fly down the slide bumps and your behind could get a little hurt if airborne. Best part is, never any lineup with this one! Plus, the view from the top is incredible.
1. Sky Ride
A relatively new CNE staple, sit atop the 40 meter high gondola stretching across the entire park from the west end gate near BMO Field to the Prince’s Gate. Mostly used for transportation, but also a hotspot for the perfect selfie or that skyline Instagram of Toronto.
