Big Boi and Phantogram have just announced that they’ll be releasing the EP under their collaborative project, Big Grams, on September 25th! The EP will also feature Skrillex and Run The Jewels. Not only that, they’re released their first single, “Fell In The Sun”:
Big Grams had their first live performance at last month’s Epic Fest in L.A, where they vaguely announced that new music would come soon. They also mentioned that after the release of this EP, they plan on releasing more tracks and go on tour.
And what kind of sound can we expect from all these artists?
“It’s kind of a taste of ideas. It’s not Big Boi and Phantogram music. It’s Big Grams, which is different. It’s a whole different project. It’s stuff that we wouldn’t put on our own records, but just kind of something completely different so you get a taste of. There’s songs that I rap on, there’s songs that Big sings on. There’s songs that Josh raps on. It doesn’t sound pretentious in any way, because we just wanted to do whatever the f— we wanted to do.” – Phantogram’s Sarah Barthel

P.S. : This isn’t the first time these artists worked together (though not to this extent): Phantogram & Run the Jewels’ Killer Mike were featured in Big Boi’s 2012 LP. Big Boi actually found out about Phantogram when he came across a pop-up ad with their 2009 single “Mouthful of Diamonds”.
