Thom Yorke, frontman of Radiohead, has released “Villain”, his first new solo release since his 2014 record Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes.
He composed this eerie track as a soundtrack for designer Rag & Bone’s 2016 collection runway show at New York Fashion Week. It’s a dark and haunting track that starts with piano, builds up with a choir (that was singing live at the event), then drops halfway with a synth bass beat. This is his third time Yorke has teamed up with the fashion label: he composed music for their shows in 2011 and 2013.
This fashion show on it’s own can work as a music video:
In the midst of this new music, Radiohead have been working on an upcoming 9th album “in periods”, but as of September it’s become “full schedule”, the band confirmed.
Thom Yorke also confirmed that he’ll be composing music for a New York Broadway production: Harold Pinter’s Old Times. Seems like he’s sprinkling his music into every art form!
