Fans packed into the Danforth Music Hall this past Saturday, eagerly awaiting the energy to come from New York’s MS MR. With a stage presence like no other, the band truly delivered a show to remember.
Taking the stage with genuine, heartfelt smiles, Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow were ready to take on the Toronto crowd. Set still in their places, it started with a synchronized hair flip and the room booming with the sounds of “Reckless” and suddenly, the energy in the room was taken up numerous notches.
There is nothing like a band that can sincerely feel their music; and MS MR danced and moved to every solitary beat of their songs, smiling to each other, and their Toronto fans. The band seemingly couldn’t stand still or hold back the vibes of the music, and neither could we.
Addressing the crowd saying, “Toronto what’s up! We’re so pumped to be here, we’re so pumped to be back in one of our favourite cities in the world,” later stating that they try to come to the city as many times as they can—and we don’t blame them.
Through singles such as the album and tour title, “How Does It Feel”, Hershenow expressed, “We imagined [when we wrote this] singing along here with you guys” followed by a quick lesson of the lyrics, which were later shouted out from the fans gazing up at the magic on stage.
Swaying through the sultry singles such as “Dark Doo Wop”, and partaking in what the band proclaimed a “group therapy session” in “Think Of You” it is safe to say fans at the Danforth Music Hall left satisfied. Closing the night with encores of hit singles, “Bones” and “Hurricane,” MS MR has officially left us wanting more, and we can’t wait for what is to come.
