Fans who missed their Toronto show back in March, or their set at WayHome, got a third chance to catch Cold War Kids this year… or maybe they caught all three shows, because one is simply not enough.
The group has been touring their fifth studio album, Hold My Home, for just about a year now and their anthemic songs had the whole crowd singing, dancing, and clapping along to their 19-song set.
The band filled the room with their energy and enthusiasm. Guitarist Dann Gallucci and bassist Matt Maust played to the crowd, exploring every corner of the stage while singer Nathan Willett had the crowd in the palm of his hand.
It’s hard to believe things could be turned up even higher, but when opening act Nick Kinsey joined the band on stage with a saxophone for crowd favourites “We Used To Vacation” and closer “Saint John”, things went wild.
Their grandiose sound and lively, passionate performance couldn’t be contained within the Danforth Music Hall. It felt like the crowd was watching a massive band playing a small secret show.
