1. MONSTER TRUCK: Don’t Tell Me How To Live
Thunderous riffs and unabashed rock, Monster Truck unleash this beast of a song as they prepare to release their new record in early 2016. Chris Cornell is gonna do a happy dance when he hears this. The best part? Monster Truck were in on Tuesday with The Fearless Fred show talking about their new single…and next thing we know they are opening the 2015 CASBY Music Awards! Hopefully you were there on Thursday night…if not, check out #CASBYs on social and start crying.
2. MAINLAND: Outcast
New York City’s, Mainland, is in love with The Cure, Depeche Mode, and New Order… so if you dig the 80s and/or White Lies, this is up your alley!
3. ADELE: Hello
It was four years ago that this young lady watched the walls of music genres come crumbling down while radio stations everywhere unanimously and independently decided this song would fit their format. The song made it onto every singles chart there was—from rock, alternative, R&B, and pop to country, dance, and Latin Pop. The song was “Rolling In The Deep” by one of the most honest, authentic, and powerful artists of our time…Adele…a song that was introduced to this city by The Edge. In just two days, her new song swept up 52 million YouTube views. Her new record, 25, is available November 20th.
4. MINI MANSIONS: Vertigo ft. Alex Turner
Mini Mansions was formed after Queens Of The Stone Age announced they would be taking a break after their Era Vulgaris tour. QOTSA bassist, Michael Shuman, founded the band with Zach Dawes and Tyler Parkford in 2009 and have released two records thus far. “Vertigo” features lead singer of Arctic Monkeys, Alex Turner, so prepare yourself for some of the British swagger you love as well as some deep grooves by this L.A. trio.
5. THE ZOLAS: Male Gaze
This Vancouver four-piece continue to pump out infectious, feel-good indie rock tunes off their new EP, Wino Oracle. After their high energy performance at the 2015 CASBY Music Awards on Thursday night, we got chatting about bands they had discovered and fallen in love with, so we brought them on the show to share the good music with you!
6. ZOLAS PICK— THE GROWLERS: Chinese Fountain
The Zolas were in New York City during CMJ, walked into a bar that was cranking this record and they’ve been listening to it ever since!
7. ZOLAS PICK – WE ARE THE CITY: Keep On Dancing
Art-rock from Vancouver! They are currently making a record in Eastern Europe and live webcasting the entire thing!
8. REND: Skin And Bones
“Rend – to tear apart so it’s never the same again”. The band’s M.O. is in their name. This Edmonton electro-alt rock band is lead by strong, soulful and sweet vocals with Zeppelin-inspired guitars and poppy synth lines built for this new age of genre-defying music for the masses. Having shared the stage with our friends USS, City and Colour, Half Moon Run and Dear Rouge, you can bet that their hard-working attitude and taste for success will get them exactly where they want to be in the very near future. Catch them at the Horseshoe Tavern this Wednesday night!
9. JAIN: Makeba
If you dig M.I.A. and tUnE-yArDs…get your ears on this. Written about a civil rights activist, Miriam Makeba, there is an instant “wow” factor within the first few bars of this world-inspired tune. Off her EP Hope. I think this just changed my life. We’ll be playing more of that next week.
10. CHET FAKER & MARCUS MARR: The Trouble With Us
The Australian king of electronic R&B, Chet Faker, teams up with UK DJ/producer Marcus Marr, who, according to Google, has no relation to Jonny Marr. If you like the idea of Daft Punk and Jamiroquai making a musical love child, press play. You’re welcome.
11. ROCOCODE: Panic Attack
Vancouver is clearly taking Canada by storm with all these talented new artists! Rococode is a four-piece pop rock band who has spent time with the people that helped shape Phantogram, as well as Tegan and Sara. Thanks to the band for stopping in to help introduce the new single and title track off their new EP, Panic Attack, which was just released earlier this month.
12. ROBERT DELONG: Jealousy
Just announced as the third single off his new album called In The Cards, you can catch Robert Delong this Wednesday at the Mod Club with our very own Colemen Hell along for the ride as support. This new song is called “Jealousy” and you’ll probably be real jealous of those at that the show if you miss it. It’s a banger. Don’t forget to check out the Edge Sugar Beach Sessions he did for us earlier this summer, they are incredible!!
