Alright, lets do this.. we’re going to look back on some of my favourite albums of 2015. The criteria is this.. the record had to come out in 2015 and I had to love it.. that’s it..
Shall we begin?
Day 12 – Record #12
FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE – HOW BIG, HOW BLUE, HOW BEAUTIFUL
Where do you even start with the talent possessed by Florence Welch, not just as a vocalist but a lyricist. It’s not just that she has maybe the best voice in recent rock n roll memory it’s that she writes these incredible songs as well. How Big, was Florence and the Machines launching pad into the top tear of he best bands on the planet. They have been upper mid-carders for a while now but this record sent them into the main event stratosphere. Nothing exemplifies that better than their breathtaking performance at Glastonbury when they had to step in last minute for THE FOO FIGHTERS of all bands and headline the show. Grohl broke his leg and with little to no preparation Florence and the Machine stepped up and absolutely killed it! No time to add big festival bells and whistles, just a great band being great playing great songs. Oh and the album was nominated for the Mercury Prize as the UKs best albums of 2015, so that’s not too bad either..
Lets get into some music shall we?
