A concert film shot on Imagine Dragons‘ recent Smoke + Mirrors world tour will hit movie theater screens for one night only on March 2nd, according to CBS Local. Titled Smoke + Mirrors, the movie was filmed in front of 15,000 fans in Toronto and includes performances of hits such as “Demons,” “I Bet My Life” and “Radioactive,” alongside more rare live cuts like “Shots” and “Gold” and the never before played “Thief.”
Frontman Dan Reynolds said in a statement, “We put more blood, sweet and lasers into planning the Smoke + Mirrors Tour than any performance we’ve given to date, and it’s something we’ll always remember. This event captures that live energy in an incredibly immersive way. We can’t wait to show it to fans all over the world who either want to re-live the experience we shared together or see it for the first time.”
Reynolds added in an interview with Rolling Stone, “We always wanted to do this, but we just finally were able to put it together and felt like this tour really had kind of a special vibe to it . . . We wanted to capture it and figured it’d be really cool to do it in a setting where fans could come together and go into a theater and experience something like that. Our fans are a close community even though they’re spread out around the world.”
Asked if the band members will appear at any of the theaters showing the film, Reynolds said, “I can’t say any specifics on that because we don’t know the specifics yet, but yes, we are definitely going to go see it with some fans in at least one location.”
Imagine Dragons begin a European tour on Thursday (January 14th) in Luxembourg that ends in early February. After that, the band intends to take some “serious time off,” with Reynolds adding, “We’re always writing just because that’s what we do. It’s our hobby. But . . . I don’t even know when we’ll be in the studio.”
Tickets for the film can be purchased on Fathom Events’ website here, and in the meantime you can check out the trailer below.
