It’s been nearly 31 years since The Cult hit it big with “She Sells Sancutary” and today they’re releasing their 10th studio album, Hidden City.
Line up changes in the band have occurred throughout the years but cornerstone members Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy have constantly remained. Long time band member John Tempesta is back on drums and Jane’s Addiction bassist, Chris Chaney is on Bass (Grant Fitzpatrick is picking up bass duties for the following tour). Bob Rock returned with producing duties, making Hidden City his 5th collaboration with The Cult.
Hidden City marks the last installment of a trilogy of albums that commenced in 2007 with Born into This, which was followed by Choice of Weapon in 2012. Hidden City contains 12 tracks including the songs “Dark Energy”, “Hinterland” and “Deeply Ordered Chaos”. Billy Duffy continues to rock with his swaying dirty guitar riffs, and Ian Astbury’s vocals can never be mistaken.
The Cult embark on their tour on February 4th in Los Angeles, and Canadian dates include March 31st at Casino Rama and June 11th in Burlington, at the Sound of Music Festival.
For a band that has lasted for 31 years now, The Cult are still going strong. Make sure to check out Hidden City.
