Not being that person who needs to schill and harass celebrities when they come to our city. Maybe you’ve heard, but this weekend a whole bunch of celebrities are descending upon the fine city of Toronto. They’re gonna be here for the NBA All Star weekend.
Don’t make us THAT city. You know people always say, don’t be THAT guy. Well this is like that only in terms of a city. Don’t make us look like the city that chases pseudo celebrities around like we’re children. That’s what the paparazzi is for, at least they have an excuse, they’re making money. You posting a blurry picture of Dave Chapelle or Gwen Stefani on your Facebook or Instagram isn’t going to enrich your life.
The point is you don’t want someone coming here for the first time after hearing great things about our city and then when they get here they can’t even get a coffee without a dozen people gaggling around snapping picture after picture. It just makes us look bad.
This is a great city, so let’s be a great city, and welcome people here like grown ups. I mean we’re already further ahead than we were at this time yesterday when we weren’t sure if we’d even have taxis to use. So let’s take a step further and just treat the people coming here …. Who are probably gonna spend a lot of money in our town, helping local business … like people, so hopefully they’ll come back.
Remember, let’s not be THAT city.
