#1. Early Start
Billie Joe Armstrong started his singing career at age five. That’s when he recorded a single called “Look for Love.” It’s cute. Not punk, but cute.
#2. Clash Inspiration
Mike Dirnt—Billie’s life-long friend—was the co-owner of a coffee shop called Rudy’s Can’t Fail Café, named after the Clash song, of course. He bought into the business believing it would be cool to have a place where he and the band could go anytime they wanted for a meal or a beer.
#3. Close to Home
Despite selling close to 60 million albums, Green Day still lives close to home. All three guys still live in the East Bay area of California near Oakland.
