The Toronto Star released a report that broke down data from more than 4,000 crimes that occured on city buses between January 2010 and August of 2015 to determine the following to be the most dangerous bus routes in the city..
The report (which you can read in full here) breaks down the types of crimes that are most often committed on these routes with the non-violent offence of fraud being #1 (952 incidences) followed, unfortunately closely, by assault on operators (896) and assault on other passengers rounding out the top 3 (300). The good news is that crime overall on TTC routes has ‘steadily declined’ over the last 3 years.
The TTC’s rebuttal, as expected points out that there are 800,000,000 ‘boardings’ a year so these numbers are in a significant minority.
Do you feel safe on the TTC?
