Daisy Ridley would be the “right actress”
A very real quote from Deadline.com. It’s amazing what can happen when you sign on to play a huge role in probably the BIGGEST FRANCHISE OF ALL TIME, EVER.
Supposing the news is true, this would be another huge step for Daisy’s career.
More importantly, I think this would be an even bigger step for feminism (stay with me here).
Daisy Ridley (if you haven’t seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet… Like… Why?) played a huge role in an even huger franchise where the female lead was not portrayed as some damsel-in-distress/sex symbol for neckbeards to gawk at.
Although she is beautiful in every way and I love her.
She was a badass. Plain and simple.
Lara Croft is also a badass, but an overly sexualized badass.
Could you imagine it? Actresses playing characters whose personality doesn’t revolve around their chest? The kind of female lead that any young woman can look up to as a role model?
So Deadline is reporting that “conversations have taken place,” but, “this is still very early and there have been no official negotiations or offer yet.”
This may not even happen, but it should.
