Suicide is obviously a delicate topic and I debated posting this blog all. I decided to go ahead with the post because Kurt Cobain‘s death nearly 22 years later is still regularly relevant subject matter, and it is truly one of the most significant moments in the last 25 years of popular culture.
So here’s the deal. The Seattle PD updated their online profile for the suicide death of Kurt Cobain. It’s the first time in 2 years they’ve done this. The last was 2014 leading up to the 20th anniversary of the Nirvana frontman’s death in anticipation of media requests Det. Mike Ciesynski did a full review of the case and determined the case should remain closed.
The latest update features the aforementioned Det Ciesynski holding the shotgun found in the possession of Mr. Cobain at the time of his death.
The 22nd anniversary of the passing of Kurt Cobain will happen April 5th 2016.
You can see the entire public record as well as information on the importance of keeping remaining crime scene photos sealed from public release here: http://spdblotter.seattle.gov/2014/03/31/detectives-reviews-cobain-case-which-remains-closed/
