James Meyers of Concord, North Carolina, was arrested this week after police found an outstanding warrant for his arrest because he didn’t return “Freddy Got Fingered” – a movie Tom Green acted and directed – on VHS back in 2002, because apparently not paying late fees on a movie from a dying rental service isn’t something you can just sweep under the rug.
“The officer said, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this but there’s a warrant out for your arrest from 2002. Apparently you rented the movie Freddy Got Fingeredand never returned it.’ I thought he was joking,” Meyers told WSOC TV.
Meyers was allowed to promised to turn himself in later in the day after his trip to his daughter’s school. When he returned to the station, he was cuffed and charged with failure to return rental property, an exaggerated late fee costing up to $200.
Then Tom Green himself got involved.
