Most of the guys in Incubus have been playing together since they were in grade ten. Mike Einziger heard about a math teacher named Joanne Stanulonis. In her spare time, she helped high school kids with their band projects, getting them gigs or even setting up studio time.
She took on Incubus and before they were even out of high school, she had got them gigs at all the big clubs on the Sunset Strip, places like The Roxy, the Whiskey, the Troubadour.
Once they were ready and had enough songs, Joanne arranged for some free studio time. This was 1995. The results were so good that by 1997, they had a major label deal, a six-song EP and were touring with Korn.
Were any of your math teachers that cool?

i think he hates everything
except for spurs and big bang theory and incubus and nirvana
Nothing like listening to Incubus in math. Also having conversations with you math teacher about playing cards is cool.— Elizabeth Sahrow (@iv_loitering) April 22, 2014
