Have you ever been really bored of the music that’s on your phone, and had no where to turn to find great new music? Every Noise at Once is here to help.
Spotify-owned company, The Echo Nest, has turned every genre of music into an interactive map to explore up to 1378 genres of music. Just by clicking on a genre, like ‘italian progressive rock’ or ‘electroacoustic improvisation’, you are instantly linked to a sample of music from that genre. So dance-punk instantly plays a clip of ‘My Number’ by Foals, while indie R&B is defined by The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.
As the website boasts, “This is an ongoing attempt at an algorithmically-generated, readability-adjusted scatter-plot of the musical genre-space, based on data tracked and analyzed for 1387 genres by The Echo Nest.”
The people behind this have put some serious work into this project, and it shows. Now you will have a genre, like ‘vaporwave’ or ‘drone psych’, to impress the hipster who knows “every genre ever”. You may even discover some great music along the way.
