Hey, Hey! Remember us, The Monkees?
You may not remember the 1960s TV-show based off the antics of the band, The Monkees, but you may have heard of Rivers Cuomo, noted frontman of the band Weezer. Cuomo was asked to write a song for The Monkees 50th anniversary album, Good Times. The lead single from the album, “She Makes Me Laugh”, was written by Cuomo, and was released on Thursday, and is not a bad effort from a band who hasn’t released an album since ’96.
The idea behind the album, Good Times, was to commemorate the band’s 50th Anniversary. The album has songs from other notable rockers, from Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, to Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, and Paul Weller. It also marks the first album from the band since the death of founding member, Davy Jones’ death.
